Chapter 27 The Black Wizard

Chapter 27 The Black Wizard

Under the cold moonlight, a translucent wolf ran wildly through the dense forest. It stood two meters tall, its entire body radiating a ghostly blue light. The girl on its back, her face filled with urgency, kept urging her summoned beast to run faster, shouting loudly:

"Huang Xin! Where are you?"

During the two hours she spent in the tree hollow, she was constantly worried about Huang Xin's safety and found it difficult to meditate. On one hand, she told herself to concentrate on her breathing exercises, recover quickly, and go down to save Huang Xin as soon as possible; on the other hand, she secretly prayed, asking the fairy goddess to protect Huang Xin. As long as he had a breath left, she would do everything she could to save him, even if it meant using forbidden techniques—exchanging her own life for his, just to let him live well.

As soon as she recovered, she summoned her contracted beast and followed the trail of blood and corpses. She carefully examined each body she saw; each time she confirmed it wasn't Huang Xin, she would say, "Thank you for the protection of the Elf Goddess!" Until no more bodies appeared, she still hadn't found Huang Xin, and secretly felt a surge of relief.

"He must still be alive! He'll be alright!"

And so, riding her summoned beast, she kept running and shouting until her voice was hoarse and could not carry far, but she still stubbornly kept shouting.

On the other side, Huang Shen walked alone in the dense forest and saw a towering tree in the distance, much taller than the surrounding trees. When he got closer, he could see its full appearance. The tree was forty or fifty meters tall, and its trunk was covered with gnarled roots that would take more than a dozen people to hug. The tree was covered with irregular indentations that were very close together, making it suitable for climbing.

Huang Xin took a deep breath and climbed upwards. He quickly climbed to a height of more than 30 meters and looked down. Under the moonlight, he saw a huge wolf-like creature running quickly through the woods, with a girl riding on its back. Due to the obstructed view, he could not see its appearance clearly.

"Is that Hannah? She's going so fast, I can't keep up!"

It seemed the only option was to try the most primitive method. He stood with his feet apart to steady himself, cupped his hands into a trumpet shape, pressed them against his mouth, and shouted loudly.

"Hanna! Hanna!"

The wolves running in the distance stopped, seemingly having heard the sound, but unable to discern the direction.

Seeing that it was effective, Huang Xin continued to shout loudly.

Finally, the girl ran towards him at an incredible speed. As she drew closer, through the fleeting shadows of the trees, Huang Xin could vaguely make out a dark blue staff in her hand. Upon closer inspection, he noticed that she was taller than Hannah, and her curves were not as graceful as a young girl's.

"Oh no! Could we have run into the enemy?!"

Huang Shen immediately shut up and quickly climbed down. His thousands of dream experiences had taught him a life lesson: being trapped in a tree was a very passive situation.

Just as I jumped to the ground and hadn't even gotten my footing, I heard a cold, icy female voice.

"Dark Wolf Beast, eat him!"

Huang Shen felt a chill run down his spine. This woman was indeed an enemy. She would eat people without warning. This was too unreasonable!

A tremendous crisis crashed down like a raging wave, and Huang Xin instinctively rolled to his left. A giant, dark blue wolf, over three meters tall, pounced on the spot where he had just stood, leaving two deep claw marks on the ground.

"That was a pretty quick reaction!"

As Huang Xin hid behind a tree, he glanced at the person who spoke. She was an extremely beautiful girl with a graceful figure and exquisite curves, and she looked to be in her early twenties.

"Who are you? Why are you trying to kill me without even asking what happened?"

The girl said coldly,

"Everyone associated with the Yunbin tribe must die!"

"It's a misunderstanding! I'm not from the Yunbin tribe, and I have nothing to do with them!"

"You just called Hannah!"

"She's a friend I just met!"

"Then you must die!"

"Wait! I don't know what grudge you have against me, and I don't want to get involved in your fight. Let me go, and I won't be your enemy!"

"What a joke! What makes you think you can be my enemy!"

Huang Xin snatched the longbow, drew an arrow with his right hand, and aimed at the giant wolf. The girl gave a cold smile.

"Eat him!"

As Huang Xin continued to hide behind the tree, he released his right hand, and whoosh! An arrow shot out, piercing the giant wolf's left paw and pinning it to the ground.

The giant wolf howled, raised its left paw, and pounced on Huang Xin along with the arrow, leaving a long trail of blood on the ground.

As Huang Xin circled around the large trees, he continued to retaliate. In less than three minutes, the giant wolf had more than a dozen arrows stuck in its forelimbs, and its cold eyes were bloodshot, as if it wanted to tear Huang Xin to pieces.

Just as Huang Xin drew back the bowstring to prepare to shoot, the girl raised her staff and quickly chanted a spell. Huang Xin found himself unable to move and could only watch helplessly as the giant wolf limped slowly toward him.

"Mengmeng! Stop it!"

Just as the giant wolf opened its massive jaws, a hoarse voice rang out. Immediately afterward, two figures pounced one after the other. A semi-transparent wolf-like creature, two meters tall, crashed into the giant wolf; a petite girl wearing leather armor, wielding two bone knives, charged towards the mature woman.

With a loud thud, the mature woman stumbled, her spell interrupted. After regaining control of her body, Huang Xin decisively summoned Carlo and swiftly issued commands.

"Carlo, help kill that giant wolf. Remember, only kill the big one; the smaller ones are allies! They're our friends!"

Looking at the two girls fighting, the petite one was clearly Hannah who had come looking for them after hearing the noise. She gripped the bone knife tightly with both hands and launched rapid, close-range attacks, preventing the mature girl from using her skills.

The mature woman remained calm, retreating while rapidly chanting a spell, creating a shadow with a radius of about 1.5 meters beneath her feet. Hannah knew it was a curse, but she couldn't afford to give her a chance to use her ultimate move, so she had no choice but to press on. Just as Hannah rushed in front of the mature woman, dozens of pale, semi-transparent arms emerged from the shadow, gripping Hannah's feet tightly, rendering her completely immobile.

The mature woman took a few steps back, stood two meters away from Hannah, raised her staff, and quickly chanted a spell.

Huang Xin quickly drew his bow and shot an arrow, forcing her to retreat again and interrupting her skill. At the same time, he shouted loudly,

"Hurry up and throw me the bone knife!"

He knew that if the opponent unleashed their ultimate move, Hannah would be in danger.

Hannah couldn't move her legs, and her forehead was covered in fine sweat. Although she didn't know what Huang Xin wanted the bone knives for, was it for a close-quarters attack? In the end, wouldn't she still be trapped in the shadows? But she really had no other choice but to throw the two bone knives at Huang Xin. With two soft thuds, the bone knives landed at Huang Xin's feet.

After firing another arrow, Huang Xin threw his longbow to the ground, bent down to pick up two bone knives, and quickly charged towards the mature woman. The moment he switched to the stealth mode, Huang Xin lost his night vision. Although his vision hadn't yet adjusted to the cold moonlight, it didn't hinder his ability to lock onto enemies.

The mature woman snorted coldly, about to repeat her old trick and summon a shadow beneath her feet, when Huang Xin's figure suddenly vanished, appearing silently behind her in an instant. At the same time, she felt dizzy, her skill was interrupted, and the summoning of the shadow failed. Immediately afterward, a sharp pain shot through her back as she was stabbed twice. The special material of her robe prevented the wounds from being deep, but the bone knife contained a potent poison, and her back gradually became numb, losing all sensation of pain.

The mature woman decisively activated her Swiftness skill, her ultimate technique. Once activated, her pupils turned fiery red, and for thirty seconds, the casting speed of all her skills doubled, effectively halving the casting time. She held her staff level and rapidly chanted the incantation towards Huang Xin. However, the next second, Huang Xin vanished again; she had lost her target, and the skill was interrupted. So, she turned to Hanna'er and chanted the incantation again.

Huang Xin knew this girl was extremely dangerous and must have a special move. Therefore, he launched a shadow attack and slashed her twice to force her to use her ultimate technique. Then, he activated his stealth skill and quickly stood in front of Hanna'er.

The moment the mature woman finished chanting the incantation, Huang Xin activated a powerful resistance skill. The stealth effect failed, and his figure appeared in the direction of the mature woman's attack.

A mature woman roared.

"Then let them all die!"

A massive bone spear, over two meters in diameter, appeared out of thin air like a high-speed cannonball and hurtled towards Huang Xin and Hanna'er.

"No! Get out of the way!"

Hannah screamed hoarsely, tears streaming down her face, her vision blurring.

However, the next second, with a loud bang, the bone spear disappeared, and the ground was blasted into a shallow crater two or three meters wide by the huge shock wave. Sand and stones flew everywhere, but Huang Xin was still standing there, coldly looking at the mature girl. The blood on the bone knife had not yet congealed, and it looked somewhat sinister and terrifying in the moonlight.
