Harry Potter: This senior is pretty strong

Chapter 150 The Adorable Toad and the Big Secret

Chapter 150 The Adorable Toad and the Big Secret

"You're a senior professor at Hogwarts, how come you can't even beat a dog? This wound has been there for two weeks, and there's still no sign of it healing completely... Judging by how bloody it is, it'll probably take another two weeks." Qin Yu muttered casually as he helped Snape change the bandages on his leg.

At this moment, the two were in the faculty lounge on the first floor. Snape's calf was indeed a bloody mess, just as Qin Yu had said. The sight was so shocking that it was painful to look at.

After the wound was bandaged, Snape lowered his robe, glanced at the boy who had just shut up with a hint of annoyance, and said coldly, "In your understanding, can a three-headed dog be considered a dog?"

Upon hearing this, Qin Yu thought about the three-headed dog named Luwei in his mind, and then shook his head in agreement, saying, "Indeed, that guy is at least three-headed, or even more powerful than three. If I didn't go all out, I would probably be bitten to death by it."

“Hagrid wasn’t really willing to do it,” Snape said succinctly.

This reveals another reason for his injury, and also the reason why Qin Yu said he couldn't kill him—because the three-headed dog belonged to Uncle Hagrid.

As Snape said, Hagrid initially disagreed with having Cerberus guard the important item, but Professor Dumbledore reasoned with him and appealed to his emotions. Hagrid realized who they were guarding against and decided to offer up his beloved Cerberus, whom he had raised for only a short time.

Because he was wary of Cerberus being "his dog," Snape didn't immediately take strong precautions. Even when attacked by Cerberus, he couldn't use overly powerful magic due to the same concern.

This is like a squishy mage going to the jungle to farm monsters. They can't use skills and can only use basic attacks. It's a miracle if they don't get killed by the monsters.

This image was very vivid in Qin Yu's mind.

"I really miss those days of battling it out in the canyon... I need to talk to George and Fred about making a 5v5 board game. Isn't that more fun than Magic Ludo?"

Qin Yu's thoughts had wandered off to who-knows-where.

Then he got up, waved goodbye to Snape, and took a book from the latter's desk.

The book cover features a few archaic, cursive words: "Adorable Toad."

That is the title of the book.

Of all the people at Hogwarts, probably no more than five would be interested in the contents of this book.

Clearly, Qin Yu is not among them.

Snape pretended not to see his actions, sitting there organizing several potion ingredients. Just as Qin Yu was about to leave the lounge, he said something seemingly out of the blue: "The one who dies first is always the arrogant one."

Qin Yu turned around, raised an eyebrow, and asked, "This statement is so philosophical, it couldn't have been said by Merlin, could it?"

Snape: "You can go now, but take that tattered book with you!"

Qin Yu shrugged, stopped nagging, and walked away.

……

"Snapped!"

A green-covered book was left on a table in the Gryffindor common area.

Harry, Neville, and Ron all showed expressions of surprise when they saw the magical GIF of a toad hopping around on the cover.

—It was the book "The Lovely Toad" that was confiscated from them.

"Qin, you're amazing! You actually managed to steal the book back from Professor Snape!" Harry exclaimed excitedly.

Qin Yu's face instantly fell, he rolled his eyes, and said irritably, "What do you mean 'steal'? I'm taking it! Taking it, please watch your words, Mr. Potter!"

Harry Potter grinned and apologized to Qin for his inappropriate use of language.

Then, together with Neville and Ron, they went to look through the lost and found book.

As the title suggests, "The Lovely Toad" is a book about toads.

Neville kept a toad as a pet—though it wasn't exactly cute.

In the last few days, as the weather has gotten colder, Neville's not-so-cute toad has become less active. He spends most of his time sleeping in the candy box, only coming out to eat once every two or three days, and even then, it's Neville who has to forcibly wake him up.

Neville had naturally heard that toads hibernate, but this was his first time raising such a creature. He wasn't exactly an expert, and he didn't know at what temperature to start hibernating or what preparations were needed for hibernation.

So Neville found this book about toads in the library, thinking he would study it carefully so that the toad could get through its first hibernation smoothly.

Then, while he was reading in the hallway, he met the kind-hearted Harry and Ron, who, upon hearing about Neville's troubles, offered to help.

Then, just as the three of them were gathered around the book, Snape suddenly appeared out of nowhere and confiscated it, deducting five points from Gryffindor's grade, on the grounds that the book was "taken out of the library's valuable collection without permission."

When Harry angrily recounted this incident to Qin Yu and the others, Qin Yu was both surprised and took it for granted.

The surprise stemmed from the fact that, according to the original timeline, the book to be confiscated was supposed to be "The Amazing Quidditch" that Harry borrowed from Hermione, but instead it became this "The Lovely Toad" book. Hermione also didn't appear at the "crime" scene because she was with Qin Yu.

The reason it seems so natural is that, for someone who dislikes Harry all the time, especially after causing trouble on Halloween Eve, it's perfectly reasonable for Snape to do something like this.

As for Qin Yu, all he could do was steal—or rather, take back—the book when he met with Snape.

"Don't just focus on that toad, the Quidditch match is about to start, you need to get into the zone." Qin Yu thought it was good to put some pressure on Harry so he wouldn't be too idle.

Sure enough, when Qin Yu mentioned the Quidditch match that was about to begin, Harry tensed up and became nervous. He quickly said that he would prepare well and give it his all.

It's no wonder Harry wasn't nervous enough during Quidditch matches; he was mainly because Ron kept talking about Qin's performance in previous matches.

"...As long as you don't make any major mistakes, Qin alone can win the game. That's what George and Fred said!"

Ron had said this to Harry more than once.

His original intention was to reduce Harry's psychological burden and prevent him from getting stage fright during the competition.

Ron achieved his goal, but he went a bit too far. Harry was too relaxed—as evidenced by his recent interest in helping Neville research toad hibernation.

In short, after being tormented by the big guys, Neville's little toad can finally hibernate peacefully—the book suggests finding it a relatively stable and not too cold environment, and the candy box it has been staying in is just right.

So, in a way, Neville's efforts were all for nothing.

……

Just as Neville returned the book "The Lovely Toad" to the library, there was only one day left until the Quidditch match.

That afternoon, after school, Hermione mysteriously told Qin Yu that Harry had discovered a shocking secret.

"...During lunch break, Harry passed by the corner of the corridor next to the Great Hall on the first floor and vaguely heard Professor Snape and Hagrid talking. Professor Snape said, 'Just pretend I was passing by and accidentally got bitten by that dog.'...So, Harry suspects that on Halloween Eve, Snape tried to steal something and was bitten by that terrible dog...That dog must be the one we saw that day!"

Looking at the nervous little girl, Qin Yu was so shocked that he didn't know what to say.

He could roughly imagine the scene of Hagrid meeting Snape: the two would bump into each other in the corridor, with Hagrid apologizing to Snape again for Fulwei's (Cerberus) mistake, and Snape coldly saying that it was nothing and that "just pretend I was passing by and accidentally got bitten by that dog."

However, if Harry happened to be passing by and overheard just a few words, he would certainly make unnecessary connections.

So, if someone always dislikes another person and keeps an eye on them, they will definitely find a lot of "dirt" on them, right?

For example, Harry's feelings for Snape.

In response, Qin Yu could only say that this was also perfectly reasonable.
