Chapter 28, Part 2: The Rinnegan
Chapter 28, Part 2: The Rinnegan
"Is that so?" Minato Namikaze scratched his head in frustration. "Then we have no choice but to go to war!"
He didn't want to appear in this form, but he had no choice; if he didn't, his silly son would die.
Only under Kushina's violent threats did he finally decide to come out and save his son's life.
But whether I fight or not, I'll eventually return to the underworld anyway. Now that I'm out, I might as well do something for the village.
He was also a decisive man. Seeing that words were useless, he decided to nip the village's future enemy in the bud.
With a flick of his wrists, he hurled over a dozen kunai at Payne in quick succession.
The kunai collided with each other in mid-air with a clanging sound, immediately changing their flight path and forming a crisscrossing net of fire that precisely blocked Payne's evasive maneuvers.
But for an attack of this level, Pain didn't even need to use ninjutsu. He simply floated in mid-air for a moment, and all the kunai missed.
Just as the kunai brushed past him, a flash of yellow light appeared, and Minato Namikaze appeared behind him, simultaneously slashing his head with lightning speed.
However, the name "Yellow Flash" had already spread throughout the ninja world, and his most proficient technique, "Flying Thunder God Technique," was known to everyone.
Payne already knew his intelligence and was naturally on guard against his surprise attack. As soon as he saw him disappear from the spot, he didn't turn around and just glared at him.
"Shinra Tensei!"
As the indifferent voice rang out, a powerful repulsive force emanated from his body and rebounded outwards. The invisible force field crashed against the shore like a giant wave, and Minato Namikaze's figure was sent flying backwards like a kite with a broken string.
But the next moment, Minato immediately appeared at the location of another kunai, flicked his wrist and threw out several more kunai, and slashed down with his sword as before.
While "Shinra Tensei" is powerful and has a comprehensive defensive range, its only drawback is that it has a skill delay and cannot be activated at will.
This should take at least five seconds.
At this moment, "Shinra Tensei" had just been used, and the time for its next use had not yet arrived, so Pain had no choice but to engage in hand-to-hand combat.
With a wave of his hand, a black rod slid out from his sleeve and rose up to meet the attack.
With a crisp clang, the two blades clashed, sending dazzling sparks flying through the air.
Before he could retaliate, Minato's figure vanished like a phantom and reappeared in the location of another kunai.
The "Flying Thunder God Technique" is an overpowered skill, especially since Minato Namikaze is currently controlling half of a tailed beast and has no shortage of chakra.
At this moment, he used all his strength, almost like he could teleport, flying wildly through the air, sometimes in front, sometimes behind, appearing and disappearing unpredictably, like a yellow flash of light darting around everywhere in the sky.
His swordsmanship was exceptionally refined; every strike was precisely aimed at vital points, and his rapid, swift cuts completely overwhelmed Pain.
But he didn't know that Pain was actually a puppet, seeing people not only with his own eyes, but also with the other six Paths hidden in the shadows. The shared vision of the six Rinnegan made Minato's every flash undetectable.
Therefore, even if Minato Namikaze teleported behind Pain, it had no effect on Pain.
Minato Namikaze's attack speed had exceeded the limits of ordinary human eyes, but the Rinnegan was not an ordinary eye, and Pain was not an ordinary person either. Minato Namikaze slashed wildly, but still could not break through Pain's defense.
Once the cooldown was over, Payne glared at him again.
"Shinra Tensei!"
The repulsive force was generated again with Payne as the center, sending Minato Namikaze flying.
However, the instant Minato Namikaze was thrown back, he cleverly adjusted his posture in mid-air, flicked his hand, and fired a few more kunai.
When Minato Namikaze first fought Pain, he hadn't yet discovered the duration of the "Shinra Tensei" technique. However, after being hit twice in a row, he became acutely aware of the drawbacks of this powerful ninjutsu.
Five seconds may be a short time for others, but for Minato, there's a lot he can do.
He was now even more confident in eliminating this formidable enemy for the village.
At the same time, Pain also discovered Minato's weakness: his teleportation relied heavily on kunai!
The reason Minato Namikaze was able to fight him on equal terms in the sky was purely due to his "Flying Thunder God Technique," which allowed him to move rapidly through the air. Once the Flying Thunder God mark on his kunai was removed for positioning, Minato Namikaze couldn't fly and couldn't get close to him at all.
So Pain quickly swung his black staff, the tip of which accurately struck the flying kunai, knocking them all away.
However, the Flying Thunder God Technique is also very fast. At the same time that he hit the kunai, Minato Namikaze's figure had already appeared next to the kunai.
However, this time Minato Namikaze didn't throw out any more kunai. Instead, he stretched out his left hand and grabbed at the black rod.
By simply imprinting the Flying Thunder God mark onto the black rod, he could approach Pain without restriction, no longer needing kunai for positioning.
But the moment his hand touched the black rod, he suddenly felt his chakra become disordered.
Meanwhile, Payne released his right hand and the black rod at the same time, and a new black rod slid out from his left sleeve, stabbing towards him with the speed of a gust of wind.
"Oops!"
Minato cursed inwardly, hurriedly dropped the black stick, and swung his sword with his right hand to block.
With a soft "ding," the short sword in Minato's hand shattered on the spot, and the black rod plunged straight in.
However, with this brief respite, Minato's chakra calmed down, and he vanished from his spot in a flash.
But because the kunai had all been knocked away, when he reappeared, his body was already far away from Pain, and he fell from mid-air.
He hurriedly fired a few more kunai, trying to repeat his previous trick.
But this time it didn't work.
Several missiles suddenly shot up from below, trailing long plumes of smoke. One missile chased after the kunai in mid-air, while the others flew toward Minato.
The missiles and kunai collided head-on and exploded. The kunai were blasted away before they even got close to Pain.
The other missiles exploded as they approached the water gate, like giant fireworks in the sky.
With a flash of yellow light, Minato Namikaze appeared unharmed on the ground, looking solemnly to the side.
Suddenly, another person appeared on the ground, dressed in a black robe with red clouds, resembling an Akatsuki member, and was reattaching his right wrist to his body.
However, what attracted Minato Namikaze's attention the most was his pair of Rinnegan eyes, which were the same as Pain's in the sky.
"What's going on?"
"How come there's another pair of these Rinnegan?"
"Was that missile a unique ninjutsu of those Rinnegan?"
Minato Namikaze was filled with doubt and secretly surprised.
However, he knew very well that no matter what kind of eye technique these two Rinnegan were, he was afraid he would not be able to achieve his goal.
He had seen the Akatsuki members; they were all quite strong. However, he and Pain were fighting in the sky, so it wouldn't have a significant impact on him.
But this new Rinnegan user is different; he's the one who can truly interfere in the battle between him and Pain.
But if he were to fight on the ground, with so many Akatsuki members swarming him, even he wouldn't be able to escape easily.
Upon thinking of this, he felt the urge to retreat.
But before he leaves, he has to kill someone!
