Chapter 38: Spider-Man and the Vulture: Falling Apart!
Chapter 38: Spider-Man and the Vulture: Falling Apart!
"Wait a mininute!"
Three figures suddenly stopped as they approached the honeycomb-shaped exterior wall of the Osborne Building.
Vulture glanced down at Spider-Man and said irritably, "What? I've already brought you here, what else do you want?"
Spider-Man didn't have any extra arms free; both of his hands were tightly gripping spider silk.
One hand is sticking to the vulture's flight suit, which will serve as a seatbelt for this flight.
His other hand was in a lifting position, used to suspend Dragon, who was wrapped up like a white bowling ball.
When confronted by the Vulture, Spider-Man raised his hand, showing him the bowling ball he was holding.
"You can't just smash through the glass and fly inside, can you?"
"What else do you want? To come through the main gate?!"
Spider-Man said, "It would be a better choice if we weren't wearing these weird costumes."
He paused, then looked down at the bowling ball, Dragon, at the very bottom.
Dragon was now in tears and snot, having been thoroughly tormented by the Vulture's speed and Spider-Man's "ball-like binding".
"I'm sure you didn't come straight out the front door, right?"
Spider-Man hefted the web in his palm, a movement that immediately caused Dragon's body to sway in mid-air.
Seeing Peter's actions, Oz got excited and decided to answer for Dragon.
"Let me show off! I used to be a huge fan of Blazing Teens!"
"Don't even think about it!" Spider-Man decisively refused!
"mean!"
"..."
Dragon, who was below, obviously couldn't hear their conversation.
If he heard and learned that a crow would be hanging him, he would probably faint on the spot.
"Osborn will kill me..." Dragon looked up, tears welling in his eyes.
"Spider, why are you wasting your breath talking to him? Just throw him away!" the vulture shouted from the top.
"Exactly!" Oz echoed his fellow Oz, deciding to let Dragoon see him.
Upon hearing the vulture's words, Dragon looked closely and discovered that the damned raven had reappeared, still perched on Spider-Man's head!
And this time, the eyes are red!
He thought he was really going to be thrown down!
So he yelled, "Don't throw me! Don't throw me! It's on the helipad at the top of the building, there's an entrance there!"
Upon hearing this, Spider-Man winked at the little old vulture above.
"I give up."
The vulture rolled its eyes and chose to fly straight up.
After a few moments, Vulture led the two to the rooftop helipad of the Osborne Building.
"This is?"
Spider-Man was somewhat surprised, as if someone had overheard their conversation and knew they were about to arrive.
The road to the rooftop helipad had already been opened.
A hole appeared on the rooftop, so dark it seemed bottomless, with only a few lights shining from below, making it look quite eerie.
Spider-Man placed the bowling ball, Dragon, at the very edge to prevent it from rolling into the hole.
The vulture landed beside Spider-Man and leaned down slightly to look at the hole below.
"Are you being listened to?" he asked.
"How could there be a listening device in a handmade suit, stitch by stitch!" Spider-Man ran his hands over his body to express his stance.
The vulture scratched its shiny scalp, suddenly puzzled.
He felt this was a trap, just waiting for them to fall in.
Then the vulture looked back at Dragon.
"!!!"
It would have been better if I hadn't looked; what I saw shocked me.
A black crow was desperately pulling a bowling ball towards them, its beak gripping a spider silk, its aim to sink the ball in one stroke!
The vulture is a devoted bird lover; otherwise, it wouldn't have dressed itself up as a birdman.
At that moment, he was overjoyed at the sight of his prey.
He used his unique method to try and make the crow stop moving.
"Chirp chirp!"
"......?"
The vulture saw that the crow paused after hearing his whistle, glanced at him, and then actually stopped moving!
Two puffs of air even came out of its nostrils!
It rolled up its sleeves like a human and walked towards him.
The vulture was overjoyed; he had never seen such a human-like bird before!
Spider-Man naturally heard the Vulture's whistle, and he turned around.
Then he saw Oz walking menacingly toward the vulture and immediately sensed something was wrong.
"Calm down, calm down, calm down! Don't take it to heart!"
"By Morgan Freeman, if this bastard doesn't get his comeuppance today, I'm not the coolest crow."
Spider-Man quickly ran in front of Oz, blocking his path.
But then someone tugged at my shoulder.
It's a vulture.
The Vulture laughed loudly, "Spider-Man, I never knew you had such a sentient crow! Come to your dad! Dad has the best feed in the world!"
"..."
Spider-Man felt it was all over.
So he said to Oz, "Go easy on me?"
Oz ignored Peter, walked straight up to the vulture, and slapped it across the face.
"Eh, no!?"
Before the vulture could even react, it was instantly swooped backwards into the tunnel entrance.
Spider-Man sighed and turned to Dragon, telling him that the webs would dissolve automatically within an hour and that he should climb down the stairs himself.
Then he jumped into the passage as well.
As he falls, Spider-Man continuously shoots out webs to slow his descent.
Finally, he found himself landing smoothly on a well-lit platform.
The platform was extremely dark, and nothing could be seen at all.
The vulture was beside him, though its expression was rather solemn.
"What's the deal with that crow?" Vulture asked the moment he saw Spider-Man again.
"I'm your father!" Oz couldn't take it anymore, so he appeared in front of Vulture and slapped him twice before disappearing with a bang.
"A miracle, a miracle!" The vulture was not angry at all; instead, a blush appeared on its face.
Spider-Man rubbed his head, thinking that this old man really had some problems with his head, otherwise he wouldn't dress like a bird and be so fond of birds.
It's rare to see Oz react so strongly for the first time.
"Welcome to the Osborne Building!"
Lost in thought, a loud broadcast rang out, instantly bringing Spider-Man and Vulture close together.
They stood back to back, searching for the source of the sound in the dim light.
The sound seemed to come from all directions, making it impossible to pinpoint its exact location.
"Spider-Man, thank you so much for coming. I've prepared a gift to express my gratitude."
"Thank you, but I think I'll pass. I already received a warm welcome from another birdman on my way here."
Spider-Man responded verbally, while simultaneously amplifying his spider-sense to prevent a crisis.
The voice off-screen chuckled, but it was very unpleasant, like fingernails scraping against a rough, uneven sheet of iron, particularly grating.
"No, you must accept this gift, otherwise I won't know how to thank you."
"As for you, little bald guy, Toms..."
The vulture immediately shouted, "Norman Osborn!!!"
"You old bastard, I didn't even bother looking for you, but you delivered yourself right to my doorstep. Fine, you're part of it too."
With a beep, the broadcast ended.
Then the light shining on them suddenly shifted towards darkness.
Spider-Man and the Vulture both witnessed that scene.
There were six iron gates in total.
A flash of red light appeared above each iron gate.
A few seconds later, the iron gate slowly opened.
Upon seeing the figure emerge from the iron gate, Spider-Man's eyes widened, and he clutched his head in his hands.
"Seriously?! Again?!"
Three enormous lizardmen emerged from within, followed by several serpentine mechanical tentacles that stretched out.
Upon closer inspection, it was discovered that three people piloting a strange device had emerged.
Strictly speaking, they cannot be considered to have left.
The tentacles were manipulated and controlled by them, and like octopus legs, they replaced the driver's own legs for walking.
"Hope you like this gift, Spider-Man."
A light suddenly appeared not far away; it was a laboratory with transparent glass.
Norman Osborn, the mastermind behind it all, was sitting inside, wearing a breathing tube.
Upon seeing this, the vulture exclaimed, "I knew this was a trap!"
Spider-Man asked, "Yeah, so why did you come down again?"
The vulture said, "It's that crow again!"
Spider-Man rolled his eyes, while preparing to explain his battle plan to Vulture.
"I'll deal with the three-headed lizardman, as for—"
Before he could finish speaking, he heard the vulture roar, take off, and leave the area.
"As for those three octopus-men..."
Spider-Man looked up at the green light above.
For a moment, he suddenly felt incredibly tired.
"I'm going first, little spider!" the vulture's voice came from above.
