Chapter 142 Lockhart and the Pinecone Party
A gentle breeze swept through the courtyard of Hogwarts, scattering a few snowflakes.
Although it's already February, winter at Hogwarts is far from over.
Loila carefully looked around, and only after confirming that Lockhart was not there did she quickly walk across the courtyard.
She was genuinely afraid of Mr. Lockhart—Mr. Lockhart showed no sign of giving up, even after being politely refused or rejected by Loyla.
Loila had to carefully plan her route through Hogwarts, as she didn't want to be alone in the hallways by Lockhart, even when she had to walk through crowds of students.
"Ah! Miss Hamilton!"
She had only taken a few steps when Loila heard Mr. Lockhart's voice. She jerked her body and quickened her pace, her boots crunching on the snow without stopping.
However, her pace was noticeably slower than that of an adult male; Lockhart quickly walked a few steps and arrived in front of Loila.
"Ah—haha—" Loila let out a slightly embarrassed laugh: "Lockhart—Mr. Lockhart—I have something to attend to—"
"Is it Professor McGonagall who wants to see you?" Lockhart asked with a smile. "Is it still about the magic circle?"
"Um—it's—it's Hagrid." Loila thought for a moment and found a less common excuse among her thoughts: "Hagrid called me—called me to do something—"
"Hagrid!" Lockhart nodded knowingly, his smile growing even warmer. "That's wonderful! I was just about to go see Hagrid!"
"Oh dear—" Loila poked her fingers, her face turning pale. She quickly said, "I'm not—not going now—"
"That doesn't matter, my need to see Hagrid isn't urgent," Lockhart said casually, leaning against the wall in the hallway. "Could I, the five-time winner of the 'Most Beautiful Smile' award in Witch Weekly, say a few words?"
"Ugh—" Loila looked at that smile that had already frightened her, and began to wonder if the Witch Weekly had become some kind of horror book.
"I—I still have some things to do—" Loila tried to refuse again, but Lockhart reached out and tried to grab her.
Loila felt the thing in her right hand immediately arch its back, and she had to shrink back to avoid Mr. Lockhart's vicious hand.
"Miss Hamilton," Lockhart said, a hint of disappointment in his expression. "I remember you promised me that."
"About visiting —"
"No—no, I don't think so—" Loila thought for a moment, her answer was clearly "I'll think about it"—and the result of her thinking was—that is—that she wouldn't go—
"I've been waiting for you for a long time," Lockhart continued, "and I've even made thorough preparations—"
Don't say that—the more you say it, the more scared I get!
Loila pursed her lips, pondering a way to leave. If all else failed, she could have Miss Nagini scare him—oh no, no—what if Mr. Lockhart used a spell to hurt Miss Nagini? He was a very powerful wizard!
"So—cough cough cough—" Lockhart coughed a few times as he spoke, and Loira seized the opportunity to quickly say, "Mr. Lockhart, you—why don't you rest for a bit?"
"Are you concerned about me, Hamilton?"
"Ouch!" Loila shuddered and took a few steps back, only to bump into a pillar in the courtyard corridor. Lockhart immediately stepped forward to block Loila.
That's...that's terrifying!
Lockhart is probably nearly 1.8 meters tall, which makes him look like a city wall in front of Loila, who is only 1.53 meters tall.
Moreover, Loila noticed that other students were already looking over, clearly—Mr. Lockhart's behavior had aroused their curiosity.
We're doomed—we're doomed!
Another baseless rumor is about to spread among the students! Just thinking about that so-called rumor about pursuing Lockhart made Loila blush so much that she didn't even dare to look up at him.
But just then, she heard footsteps approaching.
"Good morning, Professor Lockhart!" It was Miss Izaria's voice. Loira had never imagined she would like her voice so much.
Her arrival means one thing—the Pinecone Party has arrived!
Loila turned her head slightly, her blue eyes beneath the silver mask filled with surprise. There were several students, many of whom Loila recognized—or had seen before.
I saw it on the night the Pinecone Party was founded —
"Ah—it's Miss Ezreal." Hearing someone call his name, Lockhart immediately turned around and smiled.
"Mr. Lockhart, we're your fans!" Ezreal smiled, and the other students immediately surrounded Lockhart.
"Can I get your autograph?" she shouted, and the other students echoed her enthusiasm.
"Ah—one by one—one by one—" Lockhart, surrounded by students, was unable to move and seemed to have no time to care about Loila for the moment.
"This way, Professor Hamilton!" Just then, Loila saw a familiar figure appear, and she grabbed Loila's sleeve and pulled her away from Lockhart.
"Miss Hamilton?! Miss Hamilton?!" Lockhart, noticing the scene, shouted loudly, but his voice and figure were completely surrounded by the students.
"Whoosh—" As Loila was pulled around a corridor, Mr. Lockhart's threat finally disappeared.
Only then did Loila have a chance to raise her head and look at the person who was pulling her along.
Is it... is it Miss Granger?!
Loila shuddered and instinctively wanted to run back, after all, Miss Granger was no less of a threat than Mr. Lockhart.
But after thinking it over for a few seconds, Loila gave up. After all, Miss Granger and the Pinecone Party had just saved her—it didn't seem like a good idea to just turn around and run away.
"Professor Hamilton, are you alright?" Hermione asked softly.
"————" Loila pursed her lips and then shook her head.
"That's good then." Hermione smiled. "We'll help you, Professor Hamilton."
Thank you so much! — Loila felt she really had to take back her previous assessment of the Pinecone Party. They were far superior to Dumbledore's criminal organization!
However, it would be better if Miss Granger didn't start rummaging through her bag—Loila took a deep breath as she watched her pull out the notebook.
Never mind, never mind—I'm a professor, after all.—Being promoted by a professor is—very—very—of course.
Loila pursed her lips, reached out and took Hermione's notebook, then glanced at the questions on it.
She nodded slightly, then picked up the quill pen and began to write on it.
Miss Granger's questions weren't too difficult—she could answer them herself, though Loila could only answer them by writing.
Seeing Loyla's actions, Hermione smiled excitedly.
Watching her skip away, Loila breathed a sigh of relief.
"Hiss hiss hiss."
Just then, she heard a sound coming from inside her sleeve.
"Ah—it's better not to—it's better not to bite Mr. Lockhart to death directly—"
Miss Nagini has just come up with a terrible idea.
