Chapter 196: Fate to Zhu City
Chapter 196: Fate to Zhu City
Enju City is an ancient capital in the northern part of the Johto region, located in the forest between Raibosan Mountain and Ohara on the west bank of the nearby Johto.
Like all big cities in the Pokémon world, Enju City also has a gym. The gym owner is Matsuba, who specializes in ghost-attribute Pokémon. The challenger can obtain a Phantom Badge after winning.
Yuanzhu City is known as a famous historical and cultural city. Traditional Japanese-style architecture is the city's characteristic. The tallest building in the city is the ten-story bell tower.
However, Shota and Kurumi came here not for the Bell Tower, but for the Scorched Tower.
The Burnt Tower is located in the northwest of Enju City in the Johto region. It was originally called the Bell Tower. It corresponds to the Bell Tower, but the Bell Tower was burned down in a fire 150 years ago, and now only the ground and underground floors remain.
According to legend, Lugia once lived here, but when the Bell Tower collapsed, Lugia flew to the Whirlpool Island; at the same time, the Ho-Oh who lived in the Bell Tower also flew away from there, looking for a trainer with a pure heart. In the fire of the Bell Tower, three unknown Pokémon were burned to death. Before leaving the City of Vermillion, the Ho-Oh resurrected these three Pokémon, namely Raikou, Entei and Suicune, collectively known as the Ho-Oh Guard.
After safely arriving in Zhuyuan City, Hu Tao felt that she had suffered a bit of a loss. After all, basically nothing happened along the way, and she didn't even see a single hair of Team Rocket.
She originally planned to record the thrilling mileage to make this report gain some attention, but it seems that she should forget it.
After the photographer set up the camera, Walnut began to explain to the camera:
"Seven hundred years before the story begins, two towers were built in the city of Enju, one on the east and one on the west. These two towers were built for the friendship between humans and Pokémon, and the view from the top of the towers is even more magnificent. The tower on the east side is used to wake up Pokémon, while the tower on the west side puts Pokémon to sleep. The Ho-Oh lives on the top of the bell tower on the east side.
However, 150 years ago, a lightning bolt struck the west tower, and the tower instantly turned into a sea of fire. The fire burned for three days and three nights, and finally a heavy rain put out the flames. However, at this time, there was not much left of the tower. Three unknown Pokémon were burned to death in the fire, and the Phoenix King descended from the sky and resurrected them..."
Looking at Kurumi who was getting into work mode, indeed, if he hadn't mentioned his previous impression, Shota might have thought that this was an amazing and eloquent news anchor.
But from now on, she might just be a woman who only knows how to broadcast but doesn't understand the ways of the world.
However, it just happened to show her dedication to work and her elite performance.
After saying hello to the photographer who was passing by, Shota went to the Enju Dojo in Enju City alone.
The master of the Yuanzhu Dojo is named Songye.
In the game: Songye is a fan of legendary Pokémon and is training in Yuju City to see the rainbow Pokémon Ho-Oh. He is a good friend of Shuijing. Through training, he has gained clairvoyance, which allows him to see things that others cannot see.
In the anime: Matsuba makes his first appearance in Scorched Tower! Matsuba Appears!! He teaches his students how to train Ghost-type Pokémon. He knows that most Ghost-type Pokémon have very little stamina, and can only reduce their combat capabilities by startling or confusing their opponents.
Ash and his group enter the Scorched Tower after mistaking it for a gym, and are later confronted by Matsuba, whose Ghost-type Pokémon create illusions of fire to scare the trainers, but Matsuba calms them down and introduces himself as the gym leader. He tells Ash and his group about the legend of Ho-Oh and the two towers of Enju City, but he does not believe that Ash has ever seen Ho-Oh. When Team Rocket kidnaps Pikachu and Togepi, Matsuba sends his powerful Gengar to stop Team Rocket.
On the second day, Ash and Matsuba battled in a Gym Tournament, where Ash used his Nightowl's Insight to put Matsuba's Ghost-type Pokémon at a disadvantage, making them vulnerable to Normal-type moves. Matsuba ultimately lost to Ash, and after seeing Ash's spirit, he said that he finally believed that Ash seemed to have seen Ho-Oh.
After entering the Enju Dojo, Shota actually didn't feel any pressure about getting the badge. The person he wanted to see was not Matsuba, but his good friend Mizukyo.
In the anime Suicune and Suikyou! The Legend of Ho-Oh!!, he is an arrogant person who is obsessed with Suicune just like in the game. Possibly out of jealousy, he challenges Satoshi to a duel when he hears that he met the Ho-Oh Guards and Ho-Oh. In the episode, he eventually meets Suicune.
Out of his own selfish desires, he attempts to subjugate Suicune. Ironically, his actions are not much different from those he mentioned earlier as unworthy of Suicune. However, for some reason, when he appears in the Legend of Thunder God, he only mentions Suicune once, and mentions Entei and Raigong more often.
In the Legend of Thunder, he assists Kenta, Marina, and Junichi in their fight against Poushen and Bashu. Marina is attracted to him because of his cape, but he is somewhat impatient with Marina's "research" on him.
Recalling some settings from his previous life, Shota was led by the waiter to Matsuba, who was teaching the children about Ghost-type Pokémon.
After learning that someone was going to take the challenge, Songye decided to demonstrate it himself and give the children a lesson.
After looking around for a while, Shota did not find Mizukyo. At the waiter's reminder, he came to the battlefield.
"Mr. Songye, come on!"
"Use your Gengar to beat this trainer to a pulp."
"Go on!"
...
Seeing the somewhat impatient look on Shota's face, Matsuba felt that for some reason, although this guy exuded a soft glow, he always gave people a feeling of keeping away from strangers.
Songye's eyelids drooped, and he decided to teach this guy who didn't take Pokémon battles seriously a lesson:
"Go ahead, Gengar."
Shota didn't say any nonsense and just threw the Beedrill out.
After giving the order in his mind, using the same tactics as before, Shota took out paper and pen from his space backpack and began to write a letter.
"What? What's wrong with that trainer? Does he look down on his teacher so much?!"
"Don't worry about him. Watch the game. The teacher will definitely beat this arrogant guy to a pulp!"
But contrary to expectations, after about three rounds, the purple fat man's body was knocked out of the black fog.
It was not known whether intentionally or unintentionally, but the purple fat man flew towards the children.
Fortunately, Songye's hands were quick and he quickly put Gengar into the Poké Ball.
After taking the phantom badge that Matsuba threw to him, Shota also threw a letter to him.
After Songye received the letter, Shouta said, "Remember to give this letter to your friend Shuijing. I think as a gentleman, you should not peek."
After saying this, Shota left Enju Dojo.
