Chapter 181: Danger
Chapter 181: Danger
Ye Jun just stared at Meihui silently, her eyes displaying her disgust and hatred over the betrayal that had almost killed her. But more than that, she was blaming herself for actually trusting her.
"You didn’t do anything wrong," Ye Jun said. "Not that I see it that way, at least. Trust is necessary in relationships, even if it’s friendships. Granted, you could have been more careful but I don’t think you did anything wrong in trusting someone you considered your friend."
"It was my fault for not seeing her true self and telling her my secrets."
"And you learned from your mistakes," Ye Jun shook his head and said. "But you didn’t shy away from trusting people again even though you experienced such betrayal. That’s commendable."
"I agree," Song Liangxue nodded. "The fact that you kept your background from us shows you learned your lesson. So don’t beat yourself over it."
"Exactly. Besides, if someone comes and kills a person, it doesn’t mean it’s that person’s fault they died, right?"
Meihui smiled faintly. "I really didn’t expect these words from you two of all people."
"What can I say, you fell for a wonderful person," Ye Jun smiled and said, holding her hand again. "Now, you have us. So, what did she do?"
"You can guess it," Meihui sighed. "She was actually on a mission. Apparently, her Clan found out about my escape incident and planned to send her to me as a friend. When she earned my trust and I told her my wish, she decided to help me."
She gripped his hand tightly and continued, "How naive I was back then, or maybe I was just blind in my desire of escaping the suffocation. When she extended her hand for help, I took it instantly."
As she fell silent, Song Liangxue asked, "She led you to a trap?"
Meihui nodded in response. "Yes. It was a trap set outside the pocket dimension. Unfortunately for them, they didn’t know about my true strength. They expected me to be a weak target they could subjugate easily and use against the Jiang Clan. Even if they couldn’t, they could just kill me."
"You’re from an Ancient Clan, didn’t you have some life-saving treasures?" Ye Jun asked in confusion.
"I did, but I left them all at home," Meihui smiled bitterly and said. "They had my Clan’s mark and could be traced. Now that I think about it, she’s the one who told me about this. She really did plan everything well."
She still remembered that day well, the day when she thought she would finally get freedom. Instead, she got stabbed in the back by the one person she considered her friend.
"I killed all of them," Meihui said in a flat tone. "It was my first time killing someone actually, but in my rage, I didn’t care about it. All of them were dead, but their poison wreaked havoc inside my body. It would have killed me if I didn’t find shelter soon."
"And that’s where my dear husband comes into the picture," Song Liangxue added.
"Yes," Meihui smiled. "Trusting him is the best choice of my life."
"I’m proud of you," Ye Jun smiled and wrapped his arm around her. "You did great even in your worst situations. I’m happy to say both of my wives are so cool."
Meihui’s smile widened hearing his words as she leaned against him, her face showing hints of redness.
"I feel left out," Song Liangxue muttered before hugging Meihui from behind. "Don’t forget I’m also a part of this family."
"I have two beautiful reasons not to," Ye Jun grinned, staring at her beautiful bosom.
Meihui pinched his waist and said, "Be nice to her. She helped you so much, yet you’re implying that you only care about her body?"
"It’s nothing," Song Liangxue said, smiling. "I did pick him as my husband because I liked his handsome face and because I found him interesting. There’s no other reason. And I’m obviously pleased to know that my husband loves my body."
"You two...." Meihui sighed, feeling that she was the weird one among them. "In any case, you’ll always be my sister. We didn’t start off well, but I’ve slowly begun to like you too. Thank you for everything you’ve done for this dummy and also for me."
"I should be the one to say that," Song Liangxue shook her head. "I didn’t really do anything, but you accompanied him, protected him and were also there when he needed emotional support. I can’t replace that."
"It ain’t a competition," Ye Jun said, slowly pushing himself between the two of them. Then he wrapped his arms around them and pulled them closer. "You’ll always be the most important people in my life."
Meihui smiled and embraced him too. "I’m happy to hear that."
"Me too," Song Liangxue planted a kiss on his jaw and said. "Though I think we’re changing the subject. Meihui, you’re a strong woman."
"I wish I was," Meihui smiled dryly and said. "Anyways, now you know what kind of people are looking for me. My family must be looking for me and if they find us, they’ll take me back to their pocket dimension and might even punish you for daring to lay hands on me."
"I guess I’ve already made a Monarch Clan my enemy," Ye Jun said. "Doesn’t matter though. I won’t let them do anything to you."
"Dummy!" Meihui pouted. "Don’t say such things."
"I noticed it," Song Liangxue gave her a glance and smirked. "These lovely words work best on you, huh. Just seeing that your love is ready to stand up for you makes you blush."
"S-Shut up!" Meihui buried her head in his embrace. "And what’s wrong with it?"
"Nothing, I just find it amusing," Song Liangxue smiled. "But then again, it’ll work on me too. I might even get aroused by it and give up on my cultivation technique, so please make sure you’re not too manly around me, dear."
She reached for his ear and whispered, "Otherwise I won’t let you off my bed for days."
Ye Jun shivered slightly, but he wasn’t going to be outdone by her. He turned to stare at her and smiled, "Why would I want to get off my bed when I’ll have you pressed under me?"
They stared into each other’s eyes filled with desire, holding it back with everything they had. They knew it was a dangerous game, but they played it anyway.
Song Liangxue tilted her head a little and said, "I think we should stop. Someone can’t handle it."
Ye Jun looked down and found a cherry-red face buried in his embrace. He couldn’t help but pinch her cheeks. "How adorable!"
She swatted away his hands and muttered, "Perverts! Both of you are perverts!"
They both laughed, which made her even more angry but soon, she joined them too and laughed heartily.
"I love this moment," Meihui said. "But they can snatch it from us."
"I won’t let them," Ye Jun replied in a firm tone. "I know it sounds like empty words, but I’ll make sure we’re always together."
"I’m happy to hear that, but you’ll have to work extra hard," Meihui smiled. "My family won’t do much, but if the Zhou Clan finds us, we’re done for. They’ll kill all of us and then use me against my family. That’s why I was working hard to heal myself and increase my cultivation."
"So, our opponents are aware of your talent and strength?" Song Liangxue asked.
"I doubt it," Ye Jun said. "People tend to live in denial, so they might think it was a short burst of power because of her Clan. I assume those great clans have some bullshit power-up things."
"She wasn’t there personally," Meihui nodded. "So I’m sure they still underestimate me. The only reason they still think I’m alive is because my Soul Jade is still intact in the Clan Hall."
"You have something like that?" Ye Jun was speechless, but could guess its function. "If you die, it’ll get destroyed or something."
"Something like that."
"Well. That’s pretty handy," Song Liangxue said. "I’ll propose it to my Clan too. Maybe we can make it."
She suddenly thought of something and said, "We know both of your backstories, but what about mine? You don’t know anything about me."
"I’ll be happy to know everything about it," Ye Jun smiled and said. "So feel free to tell even mundane details."
"That was smooth."
Song Liangxue smiled and started telling them her side of things.
