Chapter 481 Intrigue and Overt Schemes

Chapter 481 Intrigue and Overt Schemes

Backlund time, 16:00 on Winter Rite

There are 4 hours left until the Outpost launch.

After a long chase and exploration, Gloria finally found the little girl who had escaped from the scene of the medical disturbance in the vast land of Backlund.

By this time, the little girl was some distance from the city center, and the temperature was even lower.

The little girl was still only wearing thin clothes, wrapped tightly in some strips of cloth, and her face was covered with graffiti that interfered with biometric identification.

Fingerprints were burned off, eyes were covered, and faces were defaced.

The more thoroughly they concealed their involvement, the more it demonstrated the little girl's importance to the Sky God Cult; she must have been a crucial part of this disaster.

The little girl nowadays must have a significant mystical meaning for the Sky God Cult.

Looking back at the little girl's trail, she had practically traversed every single place the Sky God Cult had ever been active in.

The little girl bypassed a few locations. Rather than believing it was an oversight by the Sky Cult, she was more inclined to think that an unknown force or a high-ranking extraordinary being was secretly interfering with the Sky Cult's plans.

...Could it be that recently popular fully automatic wish-granting machine?

Gloria couldn't be sure; several guesses were swirling in her mind.

The little girl must have held significant mystical meaning for the Sky Cult. Yet, Gloria's pursuit was remarkably uneventful; she encountered no battles with the cult members, and no one even attempted to stop her. Relying entirely on limited biometric information and AI simulations, Gloria navigated the city like a headless fly, searching for clues.

Either these cultists were confident that they, as official extraordinary individuals, would not be able to find the little girl.

Or...did they already anticipate this step?

It's better to believe in your opponent's strategy than to believe in their carelessness.

Gloria felt a strange sensation, her spiritual intuition was gently touched, and she began to carefully recall the little girl's trail.

The reason this route was initially chosen to track the little girl was because it intersected with Field Moretti's movements at one point, but that was the only point. After that, neither Gloria's nor the little girl's routes ever crossed Field Moretti's tracks again.

Looking back at the trail, Gloria had initially walked halfway to the amusement park, but was then led in circles by the little girl, turning in the completely opposite direction, wandering further and further away in a dizzying maze.

…Wait, that’s not right!

Field Moretti works at an amusement park, while he himself is on the other side of the city, almost in the suburbs.

A riot at the amusement park, a little girl wandering aimlessly.

This is a calculated, overt scheme to lure the tiger away from its mountain.

The little girl holds significant mystical importance for the Cult of Skywards, something the Church of the Night cannot ignore. Within the Church of the Night, among the Beyonders of Sequence Three and below, no one understands the Cult of Skywards better than Gloria. The cultists are certain that it is Gloria, who is allergic to the Cult of Skywards, who is investigating the little girl.

This forces the Church of the Night to take this little girl seriously. They can't be too alarmed and it's highly likely that they will allocate a Sequence 3 or even more combat power to investigate her.

Without pursuing this, we cannot uncover the plans of the Sky God Cult.

If they pursue them, the Church of the Night will lose a major fighting force.

Gloria should really be in the amusement park, not in the countryside in the opposite direction!

...Has the curse named Field Moretti been disrupted?

No, she was the only one being disturbed. The curse was still working normally, clearly pointing to the amusement park, but she had to be distracted to pursue other elements.

Gloria picked up the little girl and ran towards the amusement park.

Damn it, there's no way to choose!

Just as Gloria was cursing in her heart, the little girl suddenly emitted a dazzling red light, and then exploded in Gloria's arms with a bang, turning into a dense red glow and dissipating into the air.

Gloria was startled and instinctively looked toward the city's edge.

A blood-red light emerged from the direction of the amusement park, pointing straight to the sky.

******

Backlund time, 16:00 on Winter Rite

There are 4 hours left until the Outpost launch.

As the little girl self-destructed, a burst of red light descended upon the monster in the amusement park.

The once dying, riddled with holes, fleshy monster suddenly burst forth with a strong red glow, shooting straight into the sky.

A powerful shockwave emanated from the monster, spreading outwards in concentric circles and overturning all the ruins surrounding it.

The crimson glow, like a fleshy carpet, grew wildly on the ground, even extending upwards like vines, instantly biting into all the ruin monsters created by Klein, rapidly multiplying into their internal crevices until it decomposed all the fantastical creations, classifying them according to different material layers.

Bricks, steel, and leaves were all separated by the monster's immense power, then rearranged to form rings.

The monster in the center of the circle showed no signs of fatigue and was recovering and growing upwards at an alarming rate. Powerful spiritual energy appeared out of nowhere and poured into the monster's body continuously.

"Wha...what's going on?!"

Leonard shouted at Klein as he fended off the impact.

“…I don’t know either!” Klein replied.

"You don't know? How could you not know! You're the screenwriter!"

Leonard yelled in frustration.

"You have no idea how we'll even survive?!"

"No...you're wrong. I just don't know now, not that I'll never know."

Klein's voice wavered slightly at the sudden change, but quickly regained its firmness.

He took off his ever-changing mad hat, muttering to himself as he rummaged through it.

"The magician's hat is a treasure trove. If you make a wish to the magician, he can find you all the good things in the world."

"Now, sir knight, what wish would you like to make?"

"Huh?! What is all this?!"

Leonard tried to regain his composure and analyzed the deeper meaning behind Klein's lines in the script.

"Okay...okay, okay! I'll make a wish! I'll make a wish!"

"I wish... that the magician could tell me what this monster really is!"

Klein held the hat inside and pulled out a neatly written note.

This is... Melissa's handwriting!!

The unmelted little girl, the blessed winter rites, the unsuccessful ascension.

A body tainted by divinity, an astrological chart tainted by divinity, a spirit tainted by divinity.

The three great powers unite into one at this moment.

[Thus we obtain...]

[The guiding angel who tears the sky apart!]

Alan's extraordinary qualities, the little girl separated from the body of the divine messenger, and the most powerful blessing of the goddess of night, Winter Ritual.

Through the medium of red glow, the flesh-and-blood monster and the little girl merged into one, becoming an incomplete artificial angel!

"Look! Klein!"

Leonard pointed to the sky and shouted.

Klein looked up and saw a thick, dark red beam of light piercing straight into the clouds, tearing a huge, deep red scar in the sky.

Like the sky cracking open.
