Chapter 424: Incidents of Black Magic Items Injuring People (1)
On a weekend in late October, Sainz was enjoying tea in his office on such a gloomy afternoon.
"Sainz, come quickly!" Ben Meng suddenly entered the office, "Something happened!"
"What's the matter?" Sainz jumped up suddenly. He was not such a rash person. If it was not an emergency, he would not just break in through the door, even if they were friends.
"A student has been cursed!" Ben said anxiously. "I was at the door checking everyone coming back from Hogsmeade. Just now, Hagrid hurried back carrying a girl."
Sainz hurriedly walked out with him, "Have you notified the principal?"
"The principal went out yesterday afternoon," Ben's hands were shaking a little, "I heard he won't be back for a week..."
He blamed himself, "What happened... I just took over and this mess happened... I..."
"Calm down, Ben!" Sainz patted his shoulder, "Don't rush to take responsibility... You just said that Hagrid came back from outside, which means that the student was tricked outside the school. This is not something you can control!"
"but I……"
As they were talking, the two of them had already gone down to the second floor. "Okay, there's no point in talking about this now. We should deal with the problem as soon as possible!"
"Yes, yes, yes!" After Sainz's comfort, Ben calmed down a lot.
"Has Professor McGonagall been notified?"
"I think Hagrid should have informed her. Her office is on the second floor, so close to the hospital wing," Ben said, "We both came up together. He went to Madam Pomfrey, and I came straight up to see you."
"In any case, let's take a look to see if Professor McGonagall is in her office...it looks like she's not here." Professor McGonagall's office door was open.
Entering the school hospital, I saw three figures gathered around a bed from a distance. They were Hagrid, Professor McGonagall, and Madam Pomfrey. "How is she?"
"Not very good. Bobby still hasn't figured out what's going on," Professor McGonagall said worriedly. "That's great. You can come and take a look, Professor Autumn, and see if you can figure out the cause."
Sainz walked forward and saw a girl with her eyes closed, her face ashen, her body twitching from time to time, and she moaning and screaming in pain.
Sainz was not very familiar with this girl. She did not take his class. Her name seemed to be Lini or something.
Sainz stepped forward to check and said, "This is a very powerful dark magic. Maybe we can invite Professor Snape to come at the same time."
"Yes, Professor Snape," said Professor McGonagall, a little annoyed. "We shouldn't forget him, Mr. Stebbins. Please go find Professor Snape and ask him to come over as soon as possible."
"Okay!" Ben agreed quickly and walked out the door quickly.
Sainz took the girl's hand and pulled open the sleeve at her wrist. There was a black spot the size of a green bean on the inside of her wrist.
"This is where she was exposed to the curse," said Madam Pomfrey. "Luckily it was only a little bit. If it wasn't for the cold weather and gloves she had to wear, she would have been exposed by now."
Sainz drew out his applewood wand and cast a powerful dispel spell, adding another layer of insurance on top of Pomfrey's treatment.
"I don't know its specific name, and there is no corresponding spell to break it. I can only suppress it temporarily. If I want to remove it, it will probably take two weeks. I can also use a powerful ending spell to forcibly interrupt it, but in that case, her body will be damaged. I don't recommend doing that."
Madam Pomfrey agreed with Sainz, "Professor Autumn is right."
"Hagrid, you were the first one to contact her," Sainz turned to ask Hagrid, "Did you see how she was cursed? If you knew how she behaved at that time, maybe you could provide some ideas for removing the curse."
Hagrid shook his head and said, "I don't know what happened. I just heard...I heard Harry and the others screaming. I heard they needed help, so I rushed over. When I got there, I saw this student lying on the ground in pain. Harry was calling for help, and Hermione was comforting another girl."
"So Mr. Potter and another girl saw what happened?" Professor McGonagall didn't seem to have time to understand the situation at the time. She was a little surprised to hear Hagrid's words, "Mr. Potter again...
Bobby, how is she now?
"She is not in danger of death for now, but she will be in some pain. I happen to have a newly prepared painkiller here. You can give her some after Professor Snape examines her."
"That's good!" Professor McGonagall nodded to them, "Please take care of her. I'll go find Potter to find out about the situation. Maybe that will be of some help." After that, she left in a hurry.
Sainz continued to check on Lini, "Did you hear what Harry and the others said was going on?"
"No," said Hagrid without hesitation. "When I saw her look I didn't dare to delay. I came to the castle immediately without daring to stay."
Sainz nodded, thinking that Hagrid's handling was a little rough, but correct. In a crisis, one should indeed act decisively. However, it would have been better if he could have asked about the "cause" while making a decisive decision.
Shortly after Professor McGonagall left, Ben came in with Snape.
Seeing him come in, Sainz and others moved aside a little to allow him to check on the patient.
Snape's examination method was similar to that of Sai. He first looked at her face, leaned over to listen to her voice, then drew out his wand, took the patient's hand with one hand, and touched the charred spot on her wrist with the other hand, muttering something.
After the examination, he turned up the patient's eyelids gloomily and said word by word in a tone that was unclear whether it was mocking or affirmative, "She has a good fate. She is very lucky."
After saying that, he said no more, but did not leave either.
After a while, Professor McGonagall came in with a golden object similar to Aladdin's lamp in her scarf. "This is the object that caused this child pain."
She placed the gold and scarf on the table and said, "She is on good terms with Miss Bell, who just said that she noticed something was wrong with Miss Carey after she came out of the Three Broomsticks.
Miss Carey whispered that she wanted to bring a gift to someone in the school, but Miss Bell thought that the school was under martial law and it was not appropriate to bring an item of unknown origin into the school.
So an argument broke out between them. She tried to take something from Miss Carey's hand, but Miss Carey refused to give it to her. During the struggle, Miss Carey suddenly screamed and fell to the ground.
I think that during the struggle, a little skin of Miss Carey's wrist came into contact with the thing."
As Professor McGonagall explained, Snape moved closer to the gold object and examined it carefully.
"Any findings, Severus?" asked Professor McGonagall.
"It's a very powerful curse," Snape said slowly, "It can't be solved in a short time. I think we should find a more professional person."
"Well," said Professor McGonagall, "let's call St. Mungo's to come and move her away, and get this thing into the box; they may need it."
