Chapter 118 A New Week
Chapter 118 A New Week
With the kitten Crookshank staying with Hagrid, Qin Yu and Hermione felt much more at ease.
On the way back, I passed that tall oak tree again. The two letters "W" made of acorns on the ground had been removed, leaving only fallen leaves.
"That squirrel is quite diligent," Qin Yu said sincerely.
"Thankfully, we didn't scare it. Otherwise, it would have been such a waste for it to abandon so many acorns," Hermione said with a relieved smile.
"Perhaps it's because of the pressure of life that they can't bear to give up so much food."
After saying this, Qin Yu couldn't help but feel a surge of emotion.
Thinking back to my past life, I used to "voluntarily" work overtime until eight or nine o'clock every day for a few thousand dollars in salary, and I had to keep my phone on at all times on weekends.
Isn't it good to avoid intense competition, work overtime, and not answer work calls on weekends?
Is it that I don't want it to be this way?
It's not because of the pressures of life.
So, whether it's animals or humans, there are always things they don't want to do but have to do.
Therefore, some flowers in a greenhouse still need to experience some wind and rain before they know the hardships of being human and that some things cannot be obtained so easily.
As Qin Yu thought this to himself, he glanced again at the patch of grass that had clearly been occupied by someone for a long time and had now recovered quite a bit, and felt even more at ease.
"Let's go, it's almost lunchtime."
He called out to Hermione.
The latter picked up a round fruit that had just fallen from the tree, looked at it in the sunlight, and put it into the pocket of his robe with great satisfaction. Then, he walked happily with Qin Yu toward the school.
……
When Qin Yu was in the cabin, he talked to Hagrid about "training the hawk" because he was thinking of Draco Malfoy.
There's no doubt that Draco Malfoy is a brat.
Knowing this, how could he possibly let that kid easily obtain the so-called "adventure"? That would only make Malfoy even more "bearish".
As mentioned before, Qin Yu doesn't need Draco and Harry to become close friends. At least, he never intended to actively try to reconcile them.
He simply wanted to get Draco back on his feet so that the kid wouldn't be ruined by external pressure (mainly from Qin Yu himself).
Thinking about it this way, it's not like training a hawk, but more like parents raising a child—afraid that the child will become a good-for-nothing due to being spoiled, and also afraid that the child will lose vitality due to too much pressure.
Anyway, it's not easy.
"I'm so worried about Merlin's beard, Lucius should pay me some babysitting fee or tutoring fee or something."
Thinking of this, Qin Yu couldn't help but silently complain to himself.
……
Around the same time, in the underground Slytherin rest area, in a first-year boys' dormitory, Crabbe and Goyle were excitedly discussing the upcoming lunch.
As they talked, the two of them couldn't help but swallow their saliva several times.
"Draco, want to come along?" Goyle asked cautiously to the blond boy lying on the bed.
Malfoy remained silent, but turned his head and gave him a cold and fierce look.
Feeling the gaze that seemed to emit two beams of green light, Goyle and Crabbe simultaneously shrank their necks and swallowed again.
Then, with smirks, the two slowly retreated under the gaze of those two eyes. When they reached the door, they turned and left quickly, not daring to linger.
As the series of hurried footsteps faded into the distance, the coldness and ferocity in Malfoy's eyes gradually disappeared, replaced by emptiness and blankness, leaving him looking utterly powerless and unwilling to do anything.
"Why...why..."
Malfoy muttered to himself over and over again.
In the end, he couldn't resist the exhaustion of a sleepless night and lay down on his bed, drifting off to sleep.
Some time had passed, and when Gore and Crabbe returned each carrying a pile of muffins and croissants, they saw their "boss" sleeping, a smile on his lips, as if he were having a beautiful dream.
……
Saturday and Sunday, the two-day weekend passed by in a flash.
Monday marks the start of a new week of classes.
In the classroom, Professor Binns, like a ghost, floated in mid-air, recounting a certain period of history in an unchanging tone.
Okay, he's not just like a ghost, he *is* a ghost.
Harry felt that Professor Binns' lectures were less engaging than Binns himself.
Harry thought about these things, resisting the urge to fall asleep during the tedious history of magic lessons.
When he subconsciously looked around, he unsurprisingly found that Hermione was the one listening most attentively.
Just as Harry turned his gaze over, this "big sister" even raised her hand to answer a question that Harry Potter was completely baffled by and didn't understand at all.
As for the others, they were all struggling on the edge of wakefulness and sleep, just like Harry, and some had even started to fall asleep, such as Ron.
"No, there's another person who's very energetic... but a little too energetic for his normal needs."
This was Harry's mental addition after seeing Malfoy not far away.
There's nothing we can do about it; Malfoy has been acting really strange lately. Unlike last Friday when he was grinning like an idiot, he's been radiating an inexplicable restlessness these past two days.
Just like now, Malfoy was clenching and unclenching his fists repeatedly, his eyes fixed on Professor Binns, who was floating in mid-air.
Of course, Harry knew that this guy was definitely not paying attention, because his eyes were not focused on the professor at all.
"Anxiety, restlessness, longing, loss, confusion... his eyes were truly complex."
Looking at the emotions in Malfoy's eyes, and recalling how irritable he'd been these past few days—so much so that even Goyle and Crabbe avoided him—Harry thought the guy had probably really lost his mind—just like Ron had said that day.
Thanks to the "fun" of observing Malfoy, Harry Potter managed to resist his drowsiness and didn't doze off until the end of get out of class, becoming the third "energetic" person in the class.
"Alright, get out of class is over. Everyone, go enjoy your dinner." After saying this, the professor floated straight to the blackboard, passed through it, and disappeared.
The little magicians were already used to this.
After the professor left, most people wore relaxed and happy smiles as they finished an afternoon of classes, chatting in twos and threes about what they would do until curfew.
"Ron, wake up, wake up!" Harry nudged Ron, who was still sleeping.
"Hmm—Harry, is it dawn yet?" Ron looked up, stretched, and rubbed his eyes as he mumbled.
"Hahaha!"
The students around him burst into joyful laughter.
Harry pursed his lips helplessly. He was already used to Ron's behavior and didn't even bother to avoid him to show that he wasn't familiar with him. After all, everyone knew that they were good friends and it was impossible to distance themselves from him.
"get out of class is over, we should go," Harry said hurriedly to Ron as he packed his things.
Then Harry looked in Malfoy's direction, thinking that the guy would take the opportunity to mock Ron with something like "making a fool of himself again."
To everyone's surprise, Malfoy only gave him a cold, annoyed look before walking out of the classroom without turning back.
"What's wrong with him? Who upset him?" Ron asked, following Harry's gaze.
“Who knows…” Harry wanted to say that Malfoy might have really lost his mind, but then he remembered what Qin Yu had said before—don’t always pay attention to others, doing your own thing is the most important thing—so he swallowed the rest of his sentence.
"I only pay attention to him because I'm so sleepy in class, and I just want to perk myself up," Harry thought to himself.
While they were talking, the two had already packed their things and left together to have dinner in the hall that also served as a cafeteria.
……
"Elvis, hasn't Qin arrived yet?" Hermione asked, then craned her neck to look behind Elvis, but she didn't see the familiar figure.
Elvis had just walked over and was muttering about the growing habits of some kind of herb when Hermione's question interrupted his thoughts. After a moment of surprise, he suddenly realized and said, "Sorry, Hermione, I almost forgot to tell you that Qin asked me to tell you that he has something to do at Hagrid's place and will come to see you after dinner."
She went to Hagrid's? What for? Hermione wondered to herself.
“Oh, okay,” the little girl shrugged, speaking calmly.
